OVERVIEW

David Hackett is a partner at McCloskey, Waring & Drury LLP.  His insurance coverage practice focuses on representing and advising insurance companies with respect to coverage and claims handling.  Mr. Hackett has extensive experience in handling complex coverage matters in multi-party scenarios, including litigated and non-litigated claims at primary and excess layers, involving first-party and third-party claims, construction defect, habitability, wildfires, organic pathogens, product liability, mass tort, sexual abuse, personal injury, auto liability, civil liberty violations, additional insured coverage, bad faith defense, and other insurance-related issues.

Mr. Hackett is a native San Diegan, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California, where he attended on a Naval R.O.T.C. scholarship.  He later served as a line officer in the U.S. Navy, with two tours on warships and a joint service tour in Stuttgart, Germany.  Mr. Hackett graduated magna cum laude under a full scholarship from the California Western School of Law in San Diego.  Prior to joining MWD, Mr. Hackett was a partner with the firm of Herold & Sager.  Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends traveling, mountain biking, camping, and off-roading in the Anza Borrego desert.
