Andrew R. McCloskey is a founding partner of McCloskey, Waring & Drury LLP.  His practice is exclusively focused on advising and representing insurance companies with respect to general insurance coverage and bad faith matters.  He has handled numerous complex insurance coverage matters, including litigated and non-litigated claims involving environmental, asbestos non-products, construction delay, construction defect, wildfire losses, habitability, public entity liability, personal injury, advertising injury, bad faith defense and other insurance-related issues.  Mr. McCloskey has litigated in both state and federal courts throughout the country at both the trial court and appellate levels, obtaining favorable results in numerous matters.  He has also successfully resolved hundreds of claims through mediation.  Mr. McCloskey has received the highest rating (AV) from his peers.

 

Mr. McCloskey is well-versed in all aspects of insurance coverage and coverage litigation and is adept at quickly and efficiently distilling complex issues into comprehensible concepts with an eye toward effective and practical resolution.  He is often called upon to assist clients in mediating complex coverage disputes and protecting their interests with respect to pending demands and navigating the myriad coverage issues presented when an underlying matter is heading into trial and any ultimate judgment and appeal. 

 

Originally from the east coast, Mr. McCloskey began his legal career as an associate at several San Diego-based firms before joining the insurance coverage practice group at Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, where he worked with his current partner, Kathy Waring.  He was elevated to Partner when the practice group left to open the San Diego office of a large national law firm before forming MWD’s predecessor firm with partners John Riedl and Kathy Waring.  When not assisting clients, Mr. McCloskey enjoys spending time with his family and wrenching on classic cars and motorcycles.
