OVERVIEW

Andrew M. Akers is Of Counsel to McCloskey, Waring & Drury LLP.  His practice focuses on advising and assisting insurance companies with respect to the investigation and analysis of claims, defense and indemnity obligations, extra-contractual exposures, preparation of coverage opinions, mediation, negotiation, and settlement.  Mr. Akers has assisted clients in resolving complex insurance coverage matters involving a variety of different claims and issues, including construction defect, personal injury, advertising injury, bodily injury, public entity liability, bad faith, priority of coverage, and additional insured disputes.

Mr. Akers is a native San Diegan.  After earning a B.A. in History and a Minor in Global Studies from UCLA, he returned home to attend University of San Diego School of Law.  While in law school, Mr. Akers externed with the Honorable Margaret M. Mann at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California, and the Honorable Anthony J. Battaglia at the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. 

 

In his free time, Mr. Akers enjoys travelling, camping, cooking, swimming, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and their two young sons.
